Hot Picks, March 12: Wynonna will stand by you
In the pantheon of country sweethearts in American history, Wynonna stands out.
Maybe it’s just her hair – or perhaps it’s her 14 No. 1 singles, or her distinctive mono-name, or a combination of all of the above. Dolly might be a bigger star, Taylor Swift might be younger, but so what? Wynonna’s carved herself a place in country music history. Aside from being a recording star, she’s a best-selling author (the autobiography “Coming Home to Myself” and a fiction novel just out this year, Restless Heart) and a tireless animal-rights activist. She comes from farm country, lives on a farm, so it makes sense. She’s also recently reunited with her mom Naomi to reform the Judds, and can soon be seen in a new reality show on the Oprah Network.
Wynonna is expected to perform material from her latest album, Sing: Chapter 1 (a collection of covers) and her new single “I Will Stand By You” from a new release expected this year.
Tickets to the show are $50 and available at the River Cree Casino, or by clicking here.
