Dropkick Murphys blast into town June 22

We’re going to have a do-over of St. Patrick’s Day in honour of the coming appearance from the Dropkick Murphys.

So break out the green beer and polish your Shillelagh – the proudly Bostonian band plays the Edmonton Event Centre on Wednesday June 22. They’re a wild bunch that’s part of – nay, they OWN – the genre known “Celtic punk,” which go together like haggis and a frothy pint of Guinness. Or six. And haggis is Scottish, not Irish, come to think of it. Well, whatever.

Touring behind their new album, Going Out In Style, The Dropkick Murphys are a full-on, party hardy rock band featuring bouzouki, accordion and bagpipes played like grandpa McBendover back in Ireland never imagined. Every day is St. Patrick’s Day for these guys.

Tickets to the show are $31 and go on sale Friday, April 1 at Ticketmaster.
