Lucinda Williams brings Blessed to Winspear July 6
As folk spreads its wings far beyond the place where it was put – the Edmonton Folk Music Festival – folk fans can look forward to high-octane folking almost every month of the year.
It’s all thanks to folk fest producer Terry Wickham, also producer for the “Winspear Presents” series, which has just announced Lucinda Williams at the Winspear Centre on July 6. The triple Grammy winner who epitomizes the folk side of the country music canon is touring behind her new album, Blessed. She is, of course, a favourite headliner at the folk fest, having appeared there three times.
Tickets to the show are $41.50 or $51.50 and go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at the Winspear box office, 780.428.1414.
In other concert news, the Kid Rock bill on May 21 at Rexall got a little smarter with the addition of the Trews as the opening act. The hard-working Nova Scotia rock band is perhaps best known for the 2001 hit Not Ready To Go and has five studio records to their credit.
Tickets to Kid Rock with the Trews are $29.50, $49.50 or $69.50 and still available at Ticketmaster here.
