Like a bridesmaid to bride, it is high time for Joel Plaskett to take that leap to headlining status – and now the Nova Scotia rocker will get that chance when he and his Emergency play Thursday, April 19 at the Winspear Centre as part of the “Scrappy Happiness Tour.”
The new album will be called – you guessed it – Scrappy Happiness.
Tickets are $29 and go on sale Wednesday.
The Joel Plaskett Emergency has been to Edmonton several times before – mostly as an opening act. They opened for the Tragically Hip. They opened for Barenaked Ladies. In Halifax, they opened for Paul McCartney. This is the JPE’s first headlining theatre tour across Canada. The making of Scrappy Happiness is a surprising tale – it hasn’t been made yet! Starting Tuesday, Jan. 10, the band plans to record and digitally release one song per week. And then on March 27, the results will be assembled in physical form – something historians used to call “an album.”
