OK, Sonic Boom, now we’re talking.
The addition of the great Flaming Lips to an already packed bill of modern rock goodness has banished any possible doubts remaining about Edmonton’s annual Labour Day music festival – taking place this year Sept. 5-6 in Borden Park, just down the road from the old parking lot location on the site of K-Days at Northlands.
Single day tickets go on sale Friday.
The Lips, which have been releasing one new track every month as part of the long experiment that is the Oklahoma band’s entire career, is said to be working on a collaboration with Miley Cyrus, though you never know if they’re joking. They’ll perform on Saturday, Sept. 6 behind Alexisonfire, Tenacious D (featuring Jack Black) and Mother Mother. Also on this night is Tokyo Police Club, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Big Data, Eagles of Death Metal, The Elwins and the Zolas.
Headlining Friday the 5th will be Ellie Goulding and Hozier (the Take Me To Church guy, for those few who don’t know by now), along with Brandon Flowers (of the Killers), TV on the Radio, Kongos (Come With Me Now), St. Lucia, Robert DeLong, K-OS, Gay Nineties and Young Empires.
The early birds are done, but weekend passes are still on sale, too: $199 general admission, $299 for VIP. See HERE for info.
