Cher brings ‘Here We Go Again’ to Edmonton

The one lie we can forgive our favourite artists for is when they say they’re going to retire – and then they don’t.

How can we miss you if you don’t go away? Fans even seem to be cool with being tricked into paying top dollar for a “farewell” tour thinking they’d never get to see their favourite artist again, and then happily shelling out for another chance at the “comeback.”

So we add “pulling a Cher” to the popular lexicon. The iconic singer, actor and all-around general media superstar is going out on tour again, and this after her last farewell tour, and then the one before that, and we’ve seriously lost count. It’s OK! Glad to see Cher is still rocking. The aptly-titled “Here We Go Again Tour” will land at Rogers Place on Saturday, May 25. The opening act is equally legendary: Nile Rodgers & Chic, which practically wrote the dance soundtrack to the 1970s.

Tickets go on sale Dec. 20, the presale starts Dec. 18.

Edmonton is one of several additional dates added to a tour actually named for a reboot-slash-prequel film to Mamma Mia: Mamma Mia 2 – Here We Go Again. Cher is one the stars in this successful jukebox musical set to the music of ABBA, and you can bet the singer will be doing a few ABBA numbers at her show. Cher’s latest album, her 21st, is in fact called Dancing Queen and is filled with ABBA music. All online tickets purchased to the concert will receive a free digital copy of the new album.

Far from retirement as it turns out, Cher is also one of the producers of The Cher Show, a Broadway musical about her life, and has been recently performing in Las Vegas.
