New video by Edmonton rock quartet
All Made Up will be released worldwide on Friday, Feb. 1
John Tidswell, whose 1980s band NeoA4 earned Canada-wide radio airplay, recently popped up in a band called MarketForces, along with another ‘80s alum Jeff Schmidt (Darkroom, Famous Blue Raincoat). They’ve released three albums, and with some member changes coming, the live act is currently in limbo.
Tidswell still wants to get his music out there. MarketForces’ latest song All Made Up has a new video you can watch below. The song may sound happy, but there’s a deeper message, he says: “It was is a reflection of this post-truth stuff – fake news stuff. Like most progressives, I find the Trump phenomenon so depressing – so I wrote lots of songs about it, and they were all dark and heavy. This one, I wanted to make a light vibe, and make the point that a lot of things are kind of fake. These other women in the video: they’re not really in the band but they’re pretending they’re in the band. We’re doing the fake news thing, too. It’s all made up. I wanted to make it light because the next video I’m putting out is a really, really clear attack on Trumpism. Post Truth – coming soon.”
